Transportation - Subways, cabs and buses

6 subway lines crisscross Buenos Aires. They run from Monday to Saturday from 5 am to 11.00 pm and from 8 am to 10 pm on Sundays. The fare is fixed ($2,50) and must be paid at the ticket-office on each station. Each pass is good for going anywhere in the city and allows transfers.

Another way to move around Buenos Aires are taxis. For security reasons it is advisable to always hire the service by phone (radio-taxis). Base fare is $9.10 and it increases $0.91 cents every 200 meters. The nocturne fare (from 10 pm to 6 am), the base will cost $11.10 and it increases $1.10 cents. At the end of the trip you will have to pay what the meter located to the right of the windshield indicates. Trips outside the city of Buenos Aires, with no return in the same taxi, may receive a fee.

Nevertheless, the main features of the city are its buses. Over 110 bus lines permanently go all around the city. The fare within the city with SUBE card is either $1.10 or $1.25 pesos depending on the distance of your trip. For passengers using coins, the amount is $2.00 pesos.
